Confluence Website Implementation

Ride for Sick Kids raises money for the Ronald McDonald House in the Hunter. The Ronald McDonald House is an independent, non-profit organisation that seeks to help seriously ill children and their families lead happier, healthier lives.

Challenge

  • Ride for Sick Kids required an updated website that would encourage increased community interaction and serve as an effective promotional tool

Solution

  • Implemented Confluence as a platform for the Ride for Sick Kids public website
  • Modified the standard visual display of Confluence to replicate the look and feel of a normal website
  • Enhanced the standard functionality of Confluence to facilitate increased community contributions:
    • Zookoda, Flickr and Youtube integration
    • Blog archive and page comment plug-ins
    • Funds raised chart plug-in
    • Donation web form implementation

Result

  • Using Confluence as a website allowed Ride for Sick Kids to take advantage of wiki features such as feeds, blogs and the ease of creating & publishing documents
  • Custom Confluence theme increased the visual appeal of the Ride for Sick Kids website
  • Community involvement increased through the use of blogging and responses
  • The updated website was an effective promotional tool which helped increase donations for Ride for Sick Kids
